Sight-Seeing
You and members of your party depart picturesque Sherwood Marina in West Sacramento heading
North passing the Sacramento Yacht Club, home to numerous classic Yachts and Water Craft.
Immediately, on the East bank of the River you may view the new luxurious Le Rivage Hotel and
Marina. We sail under the Highway 50 Bridge and pass the Sacramento Marina and Miller Park.
We enter the waterfront of Historic Old Sacramento as we pass under the Tower Bridge, a Sacramento
icon built in 1935.
The "Queen" will slow to an idle speed as we observe all the activity
and historic landmarks of Old Sacramento. Your cruise will continue North passing under the
"I" Street Bridge, a historic metal truss swing bridge built in 1923. The "I" Street Bridge
connects Yolo County with Sacramento County. Shortly, you may observe the confluence of the
American River, which flows from the Sierras joining the Sacramento River.
Gold was first discovered on the South Fork of the American river at Sutter’s Mill in 1848 leading to the
California gold rush. Discovery Park is located at the confluence of these two historic
Rivers and serves as one of Sacramento County’s best boat launches. Recreational boaters get
the chance to explore both of Sacramento’s wild and scenic rivers.
Your sightseeing adventure continues as the River City Queen cruises by marinas, restaurants and elegant homes. If you
missed anything or desire another look you may catch it as we return downriver to our homeport.
The return is faster as the Queen will take advantage of the current and flow of the River. Bon Voyage!
